MISD strives to provide challenging and appropriate instruction to all students in the district. For this reason, the district screens all 2nd grade students with a cognitive abilities assessment to help meet their instructional needs, including to help determine if a Gifted learning need is present. However, students are able to undergo the assessment process in K, 1st, and 3rd-2th grades as well, with a teacher, self, staff or parent referral.
If your child demonstrates most of the following characteristics (see below) on a consistent basis with regards to school/learning, or if you are just interested in knowing more about the program, come learn about our Gifted programming and what the referral process entails.
Did you miss the K-6 GT Identification Parent Session on Nov 11th, and you want to know more about the process? The recorded session is now available and contains the answers to those questions and more.
