Open House: Fossils, Families, and Discovery
JBE open house event

During Open House, the library hosted a special family engagement activity centered around the book Wylie Finds a Dinosaur by Tim Brys.

Students and their families learned about the true story of a young boy who discovered a dinosaur fossil and explored how fossils are found and studied. After the read-aloud, students participated in a hands-on activity where they created their own fossil imprints using Play-Doh, shells, and plastic insects. This interactive experience allowed students to step into the role of paleontologists and explore the science behind fossils in a fun, creative way.

This engaging literacy and STEM experience was made possible through the support of the Mansfield ISD Education Foundation, whose generous grant helped bring this book and learning opportunity to our students.

The evening provided a wonderful opportunity for families to learn together while connecting reading, science, and hands-on discovery
